Nobody wants to be a tag team wrestler anymore, and haven't since the 90's. Generations of wrestlers watched HBK, Bret Hart, Booker T, Steve Austin, Kenta Kobashi, Kensuke Sasaki, Takayama, etc. cast aside their tag partners and achieve greatness as singles wrestlers. That's the dream of every aspiring wrestler. Nobody wants to be in a tag team forever... and it shows. That's why tag wrestling is irrelevant.
Don't believe me? Here's a fun exercise, pick your favorite company and tell me when they last had a Tag Team title match as the main event of a PPV/PLE. Not just a tag, has to he for the titles. Not just a "road to" show or weekly television, has to be PPV/PLE. Not a double or triple main event, none of that nonsense... it had to have closed the show.
For the record, I care little for The Young Bucks, (current day) MCMG, New Day, Usos, etc. I think they're all mediocre tag teams in a mediocre age. My annoyance is purely with their dick riding fans trying to pretend that tag belts in 2025 are of any worth. If you truly value the IWGP tag titles then tell me who held the last 5 reigns.
