Unfortunately there would be no AEW without that YouTube clique. Without them there is no AEW and nobody in any company would be getting paid what they do now without them. I don't like The Bucks either, but they've done more for wrestling than most in our lifetime whether you like to admit it or not.

This. I was one of the fans that came into AEW completely high on 2016-2019 IWGP Omega looking forward to him being the top guy and champion obviously. What’s absolutely buck wild about it is that not only is Omega not pushed to the moon early to make use of being the hottest wrestler on the planet at the time but he is booked to put over everyone of importance and ex-WWE guys to a new audience firmly establishing him as a shitter to new eyes. They went with Jericho and Moxley instead of Kenny Omega at the backend of the peak of his powers. They poured ice cold water on Omega for a year fucking straight until they “devalued” him to the new western audience’s eyes regardless of if some of them were familiar with him or not. Didn’t make sense then and doesn’t now and idc if Kenny signed off on it himself. It was brain dead retarded to basically personally cool off your hottest commodity at the time.

The irony that devaluing stars would become one of AEW’s calling cards when it comes to booking talent. Still is. Tony does not know how to manage, build or create starpower. Everyone he gets his hands on that has any of it is drained bone dry of any aura they have by Tony’s booking or lack thereof. Omega was arguably the very first victim of this shit.

Kenny was active from day one of AEW until the end of his Belt Collector run about 2 years later and took time off. Feasibly you’re right and he would have had to take that time off to recover from injuries but how Omega was handled in those first two years is still mad questionable to me. Particularly allowing himself to be booked into a near year long burial at the most crucial time for him to get a push. It’s not just the injuries. I think to pin his AEW career shortcomings on just that is dismissive. It’s been his actual booking. He’s had plenty of time even with the injuries in the company and doesn’t have as much to show for it as he should if you’re thinking about who he was and where he was at when he signed for AEW.
