idk if wwe started it, but I've seen vids of guys who were jobbers in the 80s and 90s mentioned one of the perks of showing up to job in the WWE is there would be free food because vince would do a lot to make himself and the wwf look good to wrestlers so they could poach talent from other feds.
so like for RAW, Alpha Academy, the lesbian witches and Lyra all were in catering for a decent amount of time in 2024. Where as Judgement Day or Damage CTRL were never in catering because if they were in the building they were on tv and the weeks they weren't on tv they were on vacation and physically were not at the venue. usually the wrestlers "in catering" do the dark matches before the show. there are a lot of lesbian witches, ivy nile, alpha academy and lyra main event matches that take place before RAW. WWE speed takes place before slopdown, NXT lvl up takes place before NXT and generally for RAW and slopdown if they are only filming a 2 hour show, unusually cawdy, gunther or Liv will have a match after the show for the live audience. especially if the actual TV show didn't end with a cawdy or gunther match.
