The Douki Bomb is a very important spot to the character of DOUKI and the feud between him and Desperado, though. He used it every time he wrested matches he "wasn't supposed to win" before he became champ, and he brought it out now because he's gonna throw everything he's got at Despy the same way he would have a year ago despite him defending this time around. It makes sense. The risk was still there though, and it's a shame what happened happened.

Admittedly they aren't really trying to doing the same thing, but I agree. I'm more into Oiwa now than I was at this point in Narita's return. I think wrestling in NOAH is a huge advantage too, though.

This is my biggest issue, but someone pointed out that his character is a spineless coward who surrounds himself with stronger men. I think that's a really cool angle, but it kinda falls apart when he's such a strong singles wrestler.

I personally never read backstage shoot stuff like that, but if I were to guess they went long because the plan was to go long. Epics tend to be the standard with "star-making" matches in NJPW.

Does anyone know if Shibata is limited in the way he can wrestle post-injury, especially in Japan? I don't recall him practically EVER throwing a chop pre-injury, but both this match and the Suzuki match at TTM were pretty much purely choppa. From what little I've seen of him in America he seems to be throwing elbows like it was 2017.
