WWE is better than it used to be. The big 4 PPVs are still worth watching.

AEW PPVs are still really good. Their weekly television has just fallen off.

Wrestling is only meant to be watched once every 3 months.

I ordered Revolution 20 and All Out 21 and everyone flipping around and kicking out of 5 finishers got exhausted really quickly.

WWE has the same problem creeping in for years. But AEW always ends the match a few minutes too late. There's always that one false finish that should have been the finish and even the crowd can't hide how deflated they are afterwards.

AEW shows can be a exhausting to watch because they don't structure their show properly. It's such a simple fix, I'm not sure why they don't do it.

I think that's just modern wrestling. It sucks because it is always done on big shows, so I've learn to never expect a big match to end after the first finisher.

I do like that some wrestlers have been winning with moves other than their finisher. Osperay winning with a styles clash was really nice to see. More wrestlers should do that, have 2-3 moves that can end a match without over relying on spamming the same move in an attempt to win.

It's the finisher spam that gets me.
It works if there's a logic to it. I always loved the King Road style of escalating finishers -- there's a finisher that works on low card guys, but you have to use something stronger on a midcarder, and you save your final boss finisher only for the very best.
With AEW, though, it feels like anyone can kick out of anything at any time. It kills it for me. I stopped watching seriously back during the pandemic after Hangman kicked out of a boombox shot to the head by Max Caster. It doesn't make the person taking the move look strong, it just makes the whole thing look fake imo.

AEW is booked so haphazardly it can be a fun train wreck to watch. Honestly their backstage segments and Promos are better than the in ring shit which never seems memberable.
But most wrestling is terrible. If you try to make everything a 10/10 nothing looks good. The problem is shitters don't get booked liked shitters

This year's Summerslam was one of the worst ppvs I've ever seen in my 25+ years of watching. Survivor Series was alright. Very little of Mania did much for me. I feel like all that's left is the Rumble each year

More wrestlers need to realize this. I think the mentality has changed when they put matches together. Instead of
>I need to show the audience I am strong
It's become
>I need to show the audience I am a good worker
And they do that by giving their opponent way too much offense. More AEW wrestlers need to start protecting their moves. If you aren't going to win, dont use your finisher.

I can't speak for those years. There was a period where I dipped out on AEW all the same. But I started watching again around All In 2023 and since then I haven't felt like a single ppv has been a letdown or a bad show. If anything they've been the opposite and been consistently good if not great. It's the thing I don't get about AEW most. Because their ppvs always deliver yet there's such a disconnect between them and their weekly tv

On top of being a 4 hour show, as far as I remember the matches got progressively bigger instead of spreading them out (ie: the old piss break women's match before the main event). Which makes sense in a real combat sports event but in wrestling it just makes watching a chore.

I disagree. I don't think AEW matches get progressively bigger. Lately the opening matches have been some of the best on the show, usually followed by a hardcore match, then some heatless shit, then it picks up again towards the end.

This checks out. There were some years in the later 2000s that I didn't feel like I enjoyed at the time but even looking back on and I feel nostalgic over. Those early 2010s though? Especially once you get to 2012 with the 3 hour Raw Supershow and the 90% recap Smackdowns? Completely unwatchable. Shit didn't get good again until the 2016 draft. And even then it was only Smackdown. But that SD Live era was gigadimes so it was enough. Thank god for early NXT too
