Does his contract or any wrestler contract stipulate they can't watch a competitors show? Non-compete means you can't work for a company that does the same shit your company does. Watching a show on your own dime and private time is not working.

You're not allowed to appear on the opposing companies show no. Remember all the drama around Billy Gunn going to do some Raw anniversary show or something? Tony okayed it once. Asked WWE to refer to him as an AEW guy the next time. WWE said no so Tony said no. Without that okay he'd have been in breach of contract by appearing on their show. Guys from other companies have been in the audience before but if they were like directly featured on camera it would be an issue. Being backstage means fuck all but obviously doesn't send a great message either way. All this applies whether WWE or AEW

WWE don't own the trademark on Billy Gunn. He's under some kind of merchandising deal with them still though. That's it. That's how they've been able to release new figures of him etc all the while he's been in AEW. Same with Jake. But AEW can still put out the same and use his name. He is still under a performer's contract too which restricts him the same as any other wrestler from just being on WWE's shows. Unless of course he gets cleared like he did the one time

WWE definitely owns or at least used to own the name Billy Gunn. They eventually just relented and allowed him to start using it. There was a good decade he was in TNA and on the indies using names like Monty Sopp, The Outlaw, Kip Sopp, Kip James, and Kip Gunn because WWE owned the name Billy Gunn. He was just called "Billy" when he debuted in AEW, then sometime months later started going by Billy Gunn after getting permission from WWE to use the name.

He never had the rights to it, then all of a sudden remembered he owned the names to a bunch of WCW trademarks and had AEW start using them, like bash at the beach and whatever, then WWE made a deal with him to give him the name back in exchange for the WCW trademarks

I'm guessing it either lapsed and they didn't renew it or something, not unlike how Santino ended up with his and being able to use it in TNA. Because they wouldn't just sit by and allowed AEW to use it for marketing and merchandising if not. That's the fastest way to lose a trademark.
