Similar experience, grew up with 80's and 90's WWF/WCW/ECW... drifted away during the 2000's. Tried to get back in during the pipe bomb but everybody was still a geek.

Tried watching RAW on Netflix and it just looks like a bunch of high school twinks in a disco. I don't know, man... wrestlers used to be tall and athletic. The biggest guy there was Drew McIntyre but he was just a midcarder I guess?

Wrestlers back in the day used to actually be rugged. When you understand how the territories were & the early days of the WWF it made sense. Everybody just had higher testerone and the stars were just way more believable.

Probably has more to do with culture & the change in the country. Wrestling across the board now is just fucking cringe as are most things.

When I started to get tired of the sanitized and increasingly boring twink wrestling of the 2000's I decided to start watching old territory stuff online. Portland, Midsouth, Florida, Hollywood, etc. Very cool to see a bunch of tough bastards fighting instead of goofy shit.

I just don't get the appeal of fags like Seth Rollins and Punk. They're scrawny and every move looks blatantly choreographed and illogical. Greg Valentine could stomp them into paste.

I'm more annoyed by how long everything takes. Raw is 3 hours long and that extra time is not used on more matches or on more promos. Instead every guy has an entrance that takes 10 minutes and every single thing is just too damn long. And why does every match have tens of finishers? Finishers are like suplexes now.

It just doesn't look good. It looks like a Universal Studios attraction, all the lights and flashy sets, coupled with the obese man-babies in the crowd, constantly chanting but always absolutely adhering to the event rules. Back in the day there were crowds of all types, all ages, etc. and they would cheer and scream and curse without all of the silly chants. They would throw trash at the ring when they were mad... now they don't even carry signs anymore.

Also, when did they start illuminating the crowd? I don't want to see a bunch of fags chewing popcorn and squeeling when wrestlers make their entrance. I miss the dimly lit, smoky arenas of the past. You could smell the sweat and tobacco of those old venues through the screen.
