If his contract was fulfilled he would be able to be in WWE right now. But he isn't because it hasn't been. Contracts have clauses in them, that you can read and have to agree to while signing them. Nothing about his injury time is anything he didn't agree to or sign his name under

On the one hand, they are overreacting because AEW is fucking perfect for a wrestler. Minimal miles, maximum money. On the other hand, less exposure and bad booking harm your brand and star power later on down the road, which hurts the money you make and can make elsewhere.

AEW is great to wrestle here and there and collect a paycheck but you're not growing unless you're Tony's favorite new toy. You're limited and yes the bank account looks nice but pro wrestlers want their name to be popular and be the best wrestler not the best fill in. WWE is where they can become a globally recognized name. Penta looked so shocked to see that building completely sold out on Raw and his kids were happy for him to be on the main stage receiving a great reaction
