The biggest amount of attention came on New Japan when Jericho showed up there after leaving WWE. I'm willing to bet that he was already working with Tony, who very well might already have been working with Omega and the Young Bucks (I think they dragged Cody along). Wouldn't surprise me if Meltzer was on board from the outset as well.
They planned to hijack New Japan's Western expansion from the outset. I think Meij figured it out really quick which was why he absolutely refused to deal with them.
Sadly, money talks and the pandemic gave Bushiroad an excuse to toss him aside to start sucking at the Khan teat.
Tony is a shit booker but Shad is a good enough businessman to have made himself a billionaire and probably helped orchestrate the whole thing for his son. Never underestimate the power of money.
