If Jay White signed with WWE during the time he did he would've been screwed. Roman was just getting into his title reign so the main event scene would've been entirely gridlocked. Gunther had his IC title reign as well so even that wouldn't have been anywhere he could've reached. At best he would've ended up as a big fish in the small NXT pond or on the main roster in a feud with Miz or in a tag team with Grayson Waller or something. There was just nowhere for anyone to go for years. Look at just how hard LA Knight had to push through and how much support he needed just to establish himself as a midcard champion

He probably would have fumbled in the midcard for a while, in storylines that don't make him look like a child, but when things got better, would be pushed as he deserves. Might have been the first champion with the new title, if not at least would be competing for it.
