Hulk Hogan has been a subject of criticism for a long time now, which is why he was heavily booed during WWE RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6. CM Punk turned it up a notch on the January 20 episode of WWE RAW by threatening to throw Hogan over the top rope during the Royal Rumble match and now Vince Russo has criticized Punk for his promo.
While speaking on Legion of RAW, Vince Russo criticized Punk’s comments about Hogan, calling them unnecessary and simply cheap. He pointed out that Hogan was already facing backlash after his recent RAW appearance during the Netflix premiere, and he felt Punk’s remarks were just a cheap way to get a reaction from the crowd. Russo argued that people should forgive Hogan and move on.
>“Punk bashing Hogan for a cheap pop is lame. That’s just cheap, man. It really is cheap because, you know, coming right off of that, him saying that, he’s gonna get a big pop—but why? Yeah, you know what I’m saying? I mean, I tell you, Chris, like, listen, man, you and I both know—we’re Christian dudes, bro. We all f up, man. We all mess up. We are not perfect. We’re gonna make mistakes in life. Hulk has made mistakes like everybody else, bro. There just comes a point, man, where you gotta cut somebody some slack, you know what I mean?”
During the January 20 episode of WWE RAW, CM Punk appeared in a live interview with Jackie Redmond, where he confidently claimed he would eliminate 29 other men to win this year’s Royal Rumble. He listed top WWE stars like John Cena, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, and Sami Zayn, insisting none of them could stop him. Punk even stated that if given the chance, he would throw Hulk Hogan’s “dusty ass” out of the ring if he competes in the Royal Rumble, and put an end to “Hulkamania.”
