You can’t just assume the attendance of a house show had anything to do with Jack Swagger because he held the secondary title. Everything needs context. Some of those nights Swagger wasn’t even the headline, it was Undertaker/Kane vs Edge/Jericho. Most of those house shows during that run were near the border or in Mexico against Rey in places 4x’s the size of a U.S. house show. That’s why his figures look good. If you check the shows were he was the actual headliner and wrestling Big Show there is a noticeable drop off because they were the “B” house shows as opposed to the more star powered Cena “A” shows that often ran the same day. Context matters, whether it’s attendance, TV ratings, PPV buys etc.

very bizarre chart that randomly omits certain reigns yet includes shit like jack swagger for some reason. house show attendance is a poor indicator of anything to begin with, because the champ at the time isn't necessarily the reason people are coming to the shows, but this chart is especially dumb. for example most attiude era title reigns besides austin and rock's are omitted (no mankind, taker, hhh, angle), but there's a million other random reigns on there like sgt slaughter and mark henry. why would he include triple h's 2nd reign but not 1st or 3rd? if his point was that austin and rock were the real draws then fine, but then he shouldn't include slaughter and half the people on that list either

I recall the big show in an interview talking about back then he would sell like 200-400 merch and then when he found out how much austin could sale at a house show it put things into perspective. austin could pay the bills and fuel costs with his merch while ticket sales and everyone else's merch sales was pure profit.
