bruh do you not realize the headbutt was the conclusion of his redemption arc?
He came back to go out on his shield like a honorable warrior. In kayfabe he died as a result of that match. That was his redemption. He turned his back on NJPW and pro wrestling when it needed him the most, and this was his penance. He was never going to be IWGP Heavyweight Champion. His lot was to sacrifice himself for the greater good and make Okada stronger by causing him to level up when wrestling him and pushing Okada to his furthest physical limit. That was his purpose.
I don't consider anything he did after that match canon to his career because it ruins the arc completely.

Japan crowds are super loud unless there's some boring shitters in the ring like the Bucks.
Shibata was a huge star in Japan and he was really good. Shame what Tony did to him. Okada on the other hand needed a really good opponent or the crowd would be silent and the match would be boring as fuck.
