>>16930907they fucked up with this title so much
before this title even existed - they never, ever ever should have let roman unify the universal belt into the WWE belt at mania 38 (and they never should have unified the previous WHC into the WWE championship but that's another story). this was the peak of vince's psychotic roman worship and it was among the worst late era creative decisions he had.
after a year of rawnetty not having a world title, newly minted big nose pulls this out of his ass. but it doesn't have the lineage of the prior title, and the new lineage is just mostly garbage.
seth as the inaugural guy kinda sets this up as the inherently designated jannetty belt. i like drew a lot, but like seth, he's not on that like tippy top tier of star currently that you need to legitimize the belt as worth something. and he was passed over for priest, who should barely be sniffing IC/US gold, in 5 minutes. gunther's a great guy to hold it but HHH hasn't been giving him appropriate opponents so his reign sucks. in just 2 short years, they've established a cursed lineage.
he needs to let someone that's bigger than the WWE belt hold this belt and have a really good reign. but i think only punk, cena, rock, roman and randy meet that requirement right now, and they're all old part timers, and they've failed to build any new young fulltimers up to their level.
it's also a problem that it seems like nobody besides a samoan or cody is anywhere near being able to hold the WWE belt. there needs to be more intermingling among the higher main event level talent and the lower main event level talent, with both of them holding both belts, or else the WHC is always going to feel like the secondary belt. that's what they've made it into. the WWE belt is the primary belt, the WHC is the secondary belt now and the US/IC are tertiary belts instead of secondary.
also, the belt is also 100x uglier than that beautiful big gold belt we all want so much.
