It would work much better now. They have a bigger roster, PLE's instead of PPV, and HHH only does like 4 or 5 matches a show, which is bearable.

Even then, women are just a riskier bet for action-oriented media. It's probably a bad idea. Just make those fetish matches a staple in normal PPVs and you'll have an actual draw.

Only because they made it strong style as a motherfucker and was arguably an even more cutthroat business than japanese male wrestling.
There isn't a single female western wrestler that could even dare to lace, let alone HOLD, one of the prime era joshi's boots. There's a reason why women's matches are still the piss breaks and not main draws. Hell, western women wrestlers get more star power by being in intergender storylines than female only storylines. Anon...you'd have a point if we didn't live in the post-2022 wrestling world. WWE has outdrawn the Attitude Era in 2023 & 24, and given the stats for 2025 they're on track to have another record-shattering year of profits.

Technically the WWE's women's roster is more of a draw because they make up 20-40% of each record shattering PPV.

Define "outdrawn." Attendance is similar. TV ratings are down. Streaming is cope buoyed by the International audience. More profitable, absolutely, but adjusted for inflation and remove stuff like millions they get for thr Crown Royal events, not so much. The PG format brought in advertisers, but cut down total viewers.
