His dad was a rich millionaire in NYC who fucked his backwoods trailer park mom and then abandoned her with his kid. He didn't take responsibility for Vince until much later, leaving him to the devices of an abusive step dad and an altogether shitty life.
It's why Vince has this massive chip on his shoulder about success. He has to prove all of the perceived doubters wrong. Because he's involved in wrestling, he knows he's still perceived as a hillbilly hick by those same super rich NYC elites that have been looking down on him (and to a lesser degree his dad) from the 70s on. It's why he and Trump get along so well -- they were both rich political NYC outsiders who the elites looked down on which is why they've been hanging out since the early 80s and Trump uses Linda politically.
