>Much is being made of Penta’s “demotion” to Main Event this past Monday. This was even more odd considering George Kittle was in attendance and later joined Penta in the ring, something that feels tailor made to appear on Raw and be shared on social media. >Unfortunately, two major factors are already against Penta. One; his mistake at the Royal Rumble. Several agents backstage felt as if it threw off the pacing for the entire match, and some of the backstage talent that did not appear in the match were angry that “a newbie” got a high profile spot and messed it up. >The second, much bigger issue, involves merchandise. Rey Fenix and Penta owe money to several artists who worked for Republic of Lucha, to the tune of about $400,000. Contract disputes happen all the time and aren’t that big a deal, except many of these artists also do work for WWEshop and are refusing to work for them until the money is paid. >CM Punk, who was the driving force in getting Penta to WWE, has apparently distanced himself from the whole affair and has privately been telling people that he “barely knows” Penta and was shocked by the allegations and flubs. >Penta is currently in a “holding pattern” for booking, with producers and agents being told not to come up with any big storylines for the luchador until this situation is resolved.
