His Doom Patrol and Animal Man stuff was genuinely genre redefining. Holds up okay, but doesn't have near the impact since a lot of the gimmicks he invented in those runs have spread everywhere. You gotta sorta make a split between pre and post Invisibles Morrison. Up to and including Invisibles he was Waylon Mercy. Post Invisibles he was Bray Wyatt.

The business is certainly not doing well, but I'm reading a lot of other books from the big two. I'm reading a ton from DC. Green Lantern, Superman, JSA, JLU, World's Finest, Batman & Robin, Metamorpho. All really good reads. Not reading as much from Marvel but I'm liking Moon Knight, Hulk, Fantastic Four.

Outside of the big two, Skybound's Energon Universe has been a massive hit (by modern standards) and Geoff Johns' Ghost Machine is putting out extremely high quality books. There's a lot to enjoy these days.

There's a lot of crossover I think. And I think a lot of wrestling fans would be comic fans if comics were more accessible and affordable. It's way too expensive as a hobby because there aren't enough readers anymore, so prices are jacked way up.

Nigga comics are free. There are like a million places online that anyone can read any comic ever made and they are all one google away. People don't read comics for the same reason people don't watch wrestling. The good shit happened decades ago, the current product is the most vapid politically tainted insipid pablum, and the only people who still consume it are those lost in the sauce living on past glories while the rest of the world looks on with disgust.

Nigga if I read a comic I sure af don't wanna talk about it with people who read comics. People who read comics only read comics and everything is related to comics. If I read shit nobody is going to know about it unless it is a normal person and the subject happens to veer towards something comic related. For example my gf was talking about true crime serial killers the other day ago and the subject shifted towards Jack the Ripper. I talked about From Hell and brought up all the interesting occult symbolism that rose up around the Jack the Ripper case which led to a whole discussion about Victorian era occult societies. That is how normal human beings who don't make their entire personalities "comic books" discuss them.

I did read a bit more because thanks to that I got hooked, I mean those what I mention are legit impressive works and authors, but yeah catched very early on that the amount of shit in the comic industry is insane.

He also has an actual real self-insert in DC, who was part of the Suicide Squad, whose backstory is because Grant wrote himself into Animal Man for a conversation with the character, he permanently became a DC character. His gimmick was being able to write the world around him (and sometimes the writer interfered to give him auguries of what was to happen).
He dies a few pages into his first foray with the Suicide Squad. Very funny.

They've seen a few out of context panels from the handful of truly horrific books out there and that's enough for them. The fact is, DC especially has a very strong lineup of comics right now. There's still some bad books too, Power Girl is awful, but I'd say the average DC book on the shelves right now is pretty good.

Gail Simone is on the main X-Men title. Marino Tamaki got a 3 year run on ‘Tec. Do you understand how truly GRIM that is? Kelly Thompson (not even the 2nd best Kelly oi vey) writes like 4 books. I do not need to read every single monthly to know that is not for me. There’s a reason why I read less and less every year. Spend less and less money or care. The only readable shit at DC is just repeats of shit everyone has seen before, looking at you Snyder on a prestige Batman run or Joeph Loeb and Jim Lee doing Hush again. Or DC did the usual 10 year talent exchange with Marvel guys, which crashed and burned with Bendis, will crash and burn with Slott and produced one readable (if hacky and predictable) book with Jason Aaron on Absolute Superman. Fucking Diamond is tits up and almost every Comic Book shop in the country is going the way of the Buffalo but you have retards like yourself saying it must just be some Chuds bitching and not the state of the industry and the work being produced. If there was anything good on the rack I would love to read it and recommend it. It’s not just the writing, it’s also the art, which is editorially mandated to be cringe like the video game industry or produced by foreigners for hot dogs as cheaply as possible.
