So no real relation to Hulkster. He did take two Awesome bombs as a favor though and that’s about as much bumping as I saw Hogan take in at least a decade at that point. If you weren’t alive or watching at that point you may not get it, but Awesome was over for like a quick minute. ECW smarks loved those matches with Tanaka, then they fucking despised him when he left, more than Sandman or Raven or Taz and the Dudley’s. He was the current Champion when he signed the WCW deal. He had real heat from internet fans, but then he had a great debut with WCW. The career killer shit and throwing Kanyon off the cage, Power bombing Hulk, he was over.
The other problem was, there’s only so many Spike Dudley types that are going to kill themselves to make you look dimes out there. It just wasn’t feasible on a weekly basis.
