The egg was meant as representation to a movie tie-in, I think and I forgot which one, one them shitty Rock movies maybe. So the angle was that the Egg was priceless and Vince as eccentric billionaire just brought it to work to flaunt his wealth to his less paid talent, who had for some reason turned up to greet him when he arrives with the egg and famously chant "Egg! Egg! Egg!" to it.
The egg disappeared, presumed stolen and there was a great "egg hunt" to find who did it. Which turned out to be Austin Theory, who was Vince's underling at the time, because he thought it was cool to take selfies with it and post it on social media.
Austin then got "punished" by being put against someone in a match.
That is pretty much the whole thing from my recollection
