I mused about this in the Stardom thread after reading complaints about their two shows over WrestleMania weekend. Their Friday show is running head to head with the TJPW show (which seems to be either a really incompetent decision or unfortunate coincidence given the disappointment expressed on Twitter and the strong ticket sales of the TJPW show), and the Thursday show promoters announced three weeks ago that tickets were being put on sale in a couple weeks and then went radio silent. The two Stardom shows are also being promoted by different American independent companies, which is kind of baffling to me, but illustrates the point I'm trying to make.
Anyway, my point was it would be nice if this stupid Bushiroad vanity project UJPW would actually get off its ass and do something like coordinating the puro and joshi shows during Mania weekend and hold them all under one banner.
I understand that there's little to no financial motivation for them to do so, but the mission of this consortium is supposedly to "[E]nsure the industry's image enhancement, foster sustainable development, and address shared challenges." Acting as an administrator to secure visas, book a building, coordinate ticket sales, and run the shows seems to me like it would fit that mission perfectly. I don't know. Just a thought. Four days worth of shows from TJPW, Stardom, NJPW, DDT, NOAH, Ganbare, and Dragon Gate all in the same venue sounds pretty based to me. Not to mention the possibility of crossovers.
I get that there are a lot of moving parts and politics at play and that it's not as simple as I'm making it out to be. I also get that it has to make sense from a profitability standpoint and I'm not sure that what I've described does, but it's frustrating to me having to see those companies work with pissant, unorganized unprofessional indies to run shows here when an organization like UJPW exists that likely has the resources to make the experience so much better.
