There was no stated rule that Toni Storm chooses who is in the tournament, but if she actually wanted to she could have granted Mariah a title shot at any time. It doesn't make any sense. How long was Deonna in AEW before she got a title shot? How about Saraya? Mercedes? Sky Blue? Taya? Not to mention there are random title contender matches constantly and she showed up during the insane "title eliminator match" era where there was a random title opportunity every other week. What incentive is there to spend a year hoping that randomly Toni Storm would enter you in a tournament that has no prerequisite for Toni Storm nominations, with jobbers so you can take the longest and least efficient path to a title match and then turn prematurely when there's no benefit even to revealing your pointless plan to do nothing for a year for the sake of a heel turn?
The talent in AEW are good, the booking has never made any sense. Anyone with half a braincell can point out how the shows make no sense. You lose. Goodnight
