He had tons of great matches during his reign with Drew, Sami, Cody, Cesaro, Bryan, Edge, Rollins, Brock, Logan.

The Cena matches weren't better than the ones with Reigns since every move Cena does looks ugly and his facials are cringe. Roman has long surpassed Cena who has played the same cringe gimmick for the past 20 years.

Blame whoever the retard that decided on 2020 that Roman had to hold BOTH biggest titles and leave the roster without big belts to go after unless it was coconut theater, subsequently becoming bored of Roman's part time appearances.

Without that Undisputed Universal Champion era kicking off and dragging along for 3 years, Roman could still plausibly be Champion as you could have always written around Cody losing to him and not going for his belt the next year.

I've always wondered how this doesn't bother people. Cena is a ring general for sure, decades of experience and can command a match and a crowd, and literally never injures anyone, but his technique is just so shit that everything he does looks awful. He can't even throw a good worked punch. People praise him for his psychology and all that and I get it but I personally cannot bring myself to care about any of that if someone doesn't even have the basics down.

He and Reigns are polar opposites in this regard. Early Reigns was green as goose shit and couldn't go a whole match without botching but at least his moves looked good, his spear is slick, he sells good and his punches look good.
