Meltzer WON: WWE ran AEW out of Vegas

>AEW’s Double or Nothing has been a Vegas staple since its debut in 2019, but 2025 will break that tradition. Instead of returning to Paradise, Nevada, AEW is taking the show to Glendale, Arizona on May 25, 2025—and the reason is all about WWE.

>According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW officials felt that running Double or Nothing in Las Vegas just a month after WrestleMania 41 could be a bad move. “Decision makers in AEW believe that the May date would be too close to the April date occupied by WrestleMania 41.”

>And it’s not just WrestleMania 41 itself—it’s the entire week of WWE events that come with it. SmackDown, NXT Stand & Deliver, and the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will all take place at T-Mobile Arena, while WrestleMania 41 will be held at Allegiant Stadium on April 19 and 20. On top of that, Raw after WrestleMania will also go down at T-Mobile Arena on April 21, and WWE World at WrestleMania, the company’s fan convention, is running from April 17-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

>With WWE completely taking over Las Vegas for nearly a week in April, AEW saw the writing on the wall. Rather than try to run Double or Nothing in the same city just a month later, they opted for Glendale, hoping to avoid the risk of a burnt-out fanbase and oversaturated market.
