>Keith Lee was reportedly backstage at a recent Dynamite taping in Texas, but those expecting to see his return to AEW mainstay shows Dynamite and Collision may be in for a shock. >Sources close to the situation report that Lee was invited back to AEW in October 2024 to discuss creative, reportedly reigniting a feud with former AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland, but Lee reportedly cancelled the meeting the day before citing "a health issue" that prevented him travelling. This is in spite of Lee himself letting AEW officials know in September 2024 that he was "good to go". >"The compromise was to visit the show in Texas, which wouldn't require him to fly", a source tells us, "[Keith Lee] turned up with an attitude and immediately turned down plans, before asking unceremoniously if he could have his release". >The report goes on to state that Lee has been "difficult" to deal with for his entire run, citing a 2023 match with Chris Jericho. >"The Chris Jericho match was something that was heavily negotiated. [Keith] didn't want to go long but also didn't want a clean finish, he was really difficult for most of 2023. I was surprised he wasn't frozen out completely like some of the other guys. I think Tony [Khan] has developed a mentality where he doesn't want to engage at all with some of these wrestlers, but also wants to honor contract terms". >Keith Lee has been absent since before World's End in 2023, where he reported on his X account that he was injured and unable to work a scheduled match with Swerve Strickland. His sometimes tag partner Dustin Rhodes stepped in in what was described as "more or less the exact same match planned for Lee"

Jericho had to slow the fuck down, there were like 5 rest spots in the 14 minute match.

>>17080482 It seems he only wanted to work short matches or squashes and since he was too fat to work bangers with Swerve he just said "I want out".

lmao smart AEW wrestlers know to turn down every match if "it doesn't work for them" say they're injured and the like so they can just get paid by the money mark because of this >I think Tony [Khan] has developed a mentality where he doesn't want to engage at all with some of these wrestlers, but also wants to honor contract terms". This is is not only incredibly stupid because carnies will work you for the money knowing you're just gonna pay them out.. you also have no concept of making money and this is why AEW is a failure and will always be. this is why Okada doesn't give a shit either. Why would anyone try in this company when their boss doesn't even care about making money? Just collect your paycheck, say you're injured or whatever and move on. Easiest job in the world.

>>17081322 Tony needs to stop being a mark and act more like Vince
Anonymous
>>17081446 He doesn't need to act more like Vince necessarily. Let's be honest Tony is not Vince. He just needs to act like a competent boss like any other booker in history. He's just a spineless pussy with no balls and not a care in the world about making money. This is not a recipe for success when wrestlers are absolute carnies.

>drones are fantasy booking an AEW wrestler asking for their release >not fantasy booking that wrestler in their sloppy show, but fantasy booking their release which MIGHT lead to them signing the mark contract There are levels of cuckoldry here I never thought possible.

>>17081525 To be fair, even if the Keith thing os headcanon, there is Andrade, Miro and Ricky Starks who left in no good terms. There's also Fenix wanting out and let's not even start with Punk.
