I will never understand why people talk more about the fingerpoke of doom, Jarrett being a main-eventer, Jarrett laying down for Hogan, Russo getting involved in storylines, etc. as the death signs for WCW, when David Arquette winning their top title is the clear number one answer
As bad as all those other things were at the time, they were forgivable. They could be recovered from with a little time. They could have been seen as a bad transition period for the company into maybe another boom period, similar to the New Generation era between WWE's Golden Era and Attitude era
But letting a fucking scrawny D-list actor legitimately win your company's World Heavyweight championship. You can't come back from that stupid fucking shit
And people always say "Well Vince McMahon held the WWE title", motherfucker he was also a well-established long-term wrestling personality in the company that was having a long iconic feud with the top face, which drew dimes and put asses in seats
Plus Vince at least looked more like a wrestler physique-wise than Arquette did, not the same thing at all
