Years ago during a G1 he was being specifically dismissive of Jay White until his semifinal with Ibushi. He suddenly was remarking about how Jay played dead and didn't let Ibushi do moves, something Jay had been doing all along that Meltzer hadn't once noticed because he wasn't watching. Dave declared that Jay White was paying a homage to Kenny Omega in the match by doing that.
Dave has also said a match is 5 stars and two sentences later will say he hasn't seen it. People send him reports and he just repeats what they said, same way he reports news.
