>>17256261>To watch wrestling?Yes. Otherwise it is hard to follow the story and the characters. Without that, it is kind of like watching an action movie made entirely of action scenes with no plot. After like the third time you go "Woah, that was cool" it starts to get boring quickly.
>maybe you should be wathcing Broadway Plays then?I also like plays, particularly musicals. I actually got interested in wrestling because I like plays. The problem with a normal play is that it has some exact script and story. It doesn't continue. With wrestling, the stage play doesn't end. It is serialized and just goes on indefinitely. It is also less tightly scripted so performers get to improvise which is more entertaining than strict scripting.
I guess my problem with the violence comes from liking theater? If you were watching a play, and two people were fighting, and one of them gets cut in the fight in the story, you would think it was crazy if the actor actually cut themselves to do the scene. It is stylized play fighting with a scripted outcome. There is no reason for anyone to actually be hurt in any way and if that kind of scene is needed, there are a million ways to do it which don't involve actually cutting anyone. Nobody came to the play because they thought an actor would really be cut. They came because they are interested in either the story or the actor. I feel exactly the same way about wrestling. It isn't a fight. They aren't really trying to kill each other. It is scripted, stylized play fight used to tell a story. There is no reason for anyone to actually get cut or otherwise hurt.
>You hate everthing that is pro wrestling in joshi pro wrestlingI like the matches. They just don't need gratuitous violence. The anime battle aesthetic of the matches is great. Miu Watanabe for example, has a cool looking finisher, which would never ever be used in a real fight and is unlikely to cut or injure anybody. That is perfect for what it needs to do in the show.
