The funniest thing is that Jim these days has backtracked on what he said about Steen and Generico, being like "Uhh actually I always knew they were great I just thought they needed to change their style a bit and they did and that's why they're successful"

The point is that Cornette did not think that Steen was good at his job. He hated his style of wrestling and his edgy gimmick and thought it would drive away fans on television, but he reluctantly had to use him because he was one of ROH's biggest stars

I think Cornette is pretty fair about the whole thing. He always said they could be stars, and they became stars, what's the big deal? Also, people's opinions change/they give less fucks after twenty years.

That was him backtracking years earlier because he'd been proven wrong and he can't admit that he was wrong. Kevin didn't even change his gimmick for the WWE, he just made it more PG so Jim was wrong about that too
