>>17295917Fucking based. Legitimately great job to everyone involved in that. So I can't really blame him
>>17295955>recentIt started back in 2023. It wasn't just some month long one and done kek
>>17296202Like I was saying to the other anon it started all the way in 2023 so longevity is part of it
There were only 3 matches between them across the whole thing, with Mariah beating Toni for the title at All In in her hometown, Toni winning it back at Grand Slam in her hometown, and then the big blowoff decider at Revolution with Toni winning the feud. So the matches all counted and felt important
I think the biggest thing was just the chemistry between them. When Mariah debuted and Tony did his usual AEW graphic post he said AEW was All About Mariah. Which from the start told you what the story was going to be with it playing off the old All About Eve movie. But even though they showed you their hand from the start and told you Mariah was eventually going to stab her in the back and all, which could be every reason for people not to care or get invested, Toni and Mariah clicked so well that people still grew emotionally invested in it and got attached to the pairing while they were together so much that you'd forget about that part. So by the point it was actually time for the heel turn to happen, you felt it. It was like seeing one of your favorite tag teams split up. This is already more than anyone wants to read, but I can only echo all of the praise around it. The third and final match was incredible too and nailed every story point that it needed to
90% of everything else happening in AEW is trash and can be dismissed entirely. These two stepped up and did something really fucking special together though
