This shit finally ended WWE's new golden period they had going on. Ever since this happened I've seen people start to be critical of WWE online again and realize Paul isn't actually that good of a booker. Killed a lot of the hype to Wrestlemania as well

I'm someone who's only loosely followed WWE weekly and mostly checks out the ppvs. I was so ready to get dive back in for Mania after the Rumble but that shit just left the worst taste. It's weird because I can get the idea behind it. And he's the type of person who they should be using the Rumble to elevate into that main event spot. But he's also dogshit. And I also have zero interest in seeing him and Gunther again. Especially when their last match was as bad as it was. Clearly from what I'm seeing posted Jey isn't exactly putting in any extra work to be better heading into Mania either

This is absolutely true. WWE is a TV business and even fans that attend shows are mostly going to stream the shows or watch them on TV. Jey is electric in front of a live audience, but his act falls flat on digital media. You can't give a dude an extended title run who has fewer in-ring moves than Kevin Nash and shows up each week with dad bod. He's better than Gunther (who is boring as fuck), but Jey needs to be a transitional champ if anything.
