We can hang with PhD students and professors and we read research papers in our spare time. Unfortunately we live in squalor and have to crash at our mom's place sometimes when we have a 'sode.
Both been heroin addicts at some point or other. Heroin has been the only thing that keeps me even.
I'm lucky to have a girlfriend who finds conferences for me to present at and who puts up with me during my 'sodes.
ANyway, that was a long way of saying school success has nothing to do with being smart or not. If you can play the game, you will succeed. This is why midwits do best in academia - smart enough to know how to jump through the hoops, but not smart enough to question the hoops.
