Can someone explain me why this guy never went to WWE? Isn´t he supposed to be a big star?

Is just odd that he never went to WWE , but then again Aj styles only went when he was old...

Kenny pretty much said the only reason he'd ever need to go to WWE is for the money because he doesn't give a shit about a Wrestlemania moment or anything like that. Tony pays him plenty of money in AEW plus AEW is where most of his friends are and he can wrestle in Japan or Mexico anytime he wants. There's no incentive for Kenny to go short of him having a major fight with Tony but Kenny isn't really known for picking fights backstage. Hell even Punk admitted Kenny was the only member of The Elite he was cool with.

Kenny was weirdly obsessed with not doing himself vs. Ibushi again until it was in a bigger building than Budokan (so I assume he wanted to do it in the Dome?), which is a weird fucking thing to be so particular on when he probably had a feeling at that point he was leaving the company in January.

It's kinda sad because I know he didn't want the match where he finally beat Ibushi to just be something to build to his match with Tanahashi, but not doing it at KOPW '18 meant that it never happened and now Ibushi is super washed and they can never do it. And even if Ibushi miraculously un-cooked himself, it wouldn't mean as much to do it in AEW as it would in Japan, and it's NEVER fucking happening in Japan after the way Ibushi left New Japan.

He had a developmental deal at one point, but was only there for less than a year. This was when developmental was spread across various territories, and Kenny had the bad luck of being sent to Deep South Wrestling instead of OVW. He was stuck getting trained by Bill DeMott and Bob Holly, which probably has a lot to do with why he didn't last.

kenny was almost in WWE. he passed a tryout in 2005, went to DSW on a developmental contract, but he requested his release next year because he didn't like the promoters or being trained by bob holly. he liked johnny ace a lot though.
he said he felt like they were hampering his creativity, and he was definitely right. especially under vince, kenny never would have been allowed to make himself into the star he became.
WWE tried to get him again in 2014, thrice in 2015 and in 2019; this was after he made a name for himself in japan, and the last one would have been after he formed AEW. but kenny coming to WWE at this time would have been terrible - vince was entering his senile era, and he just would have been made into fodder for roman to go over to try to get over (and it wouldn't have worked) while still being handicapped on what he would be allowed to do in the ring. plus, kenny has never been a promo guy and that's what really matters in WWE.
kenny does not give a shit about the lion's share of what the WWE prioritizes in wrestling. they're just on two different pages. if HHH (who kenny likes) took over earlier than he did, maybe things would be different. i don't know when his contract is up, but unless tony both fires him tomorrow and the fed writes a check so big it cannot be refused, it probably won't happen now that he's old and sawdusted.

Harley Race ran a training camp at the time that was attended by representatives of WWE and Pro Wrestling NOAH. Kenny joined the camp specifically with the intention of getting signed by NOAH. Was this the match where Kenny was severely beaten down and laying motionless in the ring before his match and then Yano did his entrance and tried to get a pin the second the bell rang and then Kenny kicked out at 2.9 after not having moved for about 5 minutes. god that shit was kino. Kenny only ran down to save Ibushi from GoD in the previous match too. fuck that shit was so good

The math and scheduling doesn't really work out that way, because the biggest match in the block, Ibushi vs. Omega, has to be on the last night of block action, because they're doing Budokan for both the block finals and the final. So Ibushi has to beat Omega there.

Yes. The Guerillas were interfering with Ibushi's match, so Omega came down to help, Tama beat Ibushi, the Guerillas beat down Omega and Ibushi afterwards, and the camera just zooms out and pans up so you can see Omega laying dead in the ring while Yano does his full entrance completely unaware of what just happened until he gets to the ring and sees Omega is dead.

Other spots in that match included Yano throwing Kenny into the exposed corner, but Chase Owens taking the place of the corner pad to soften the blow for Kenny and Yano suplexing Kenny onto the corner pad just for Kenny to realize it didn't hurt, because he landed on a soft pad.

He asked for it. The original focus of the women was going to be women picked by Kenny with Riho being the best one. Basically, a joshi fed inside of a fed. But then Britt Baker got over doing the Roll Model shit and it turned the women's division from workers to entertainers. And in AEW, sports entertainment meant Cody Island.
Somehow, some way, Charles Flair chased off one of the very few women who figured out how to do both. So that's big for AEW's 47 fans.

Kenny was in developmental with DSW. But by his own accord, he didn't listen to the trainers and actively worked against them.

He's really just not the talent he's made out to be. He's an awful promo and not much of a personality. He's not good at the basics or being a face or heel. His good matches are all overrated indy fests. He had a good look though, I'll give him that.

He's already a legend in Japan and he already has enough money to buy all the video games he could ever want and drive any car he wants.

If they haven't taken it down from YouTube yet, watch Moose versus Kenny during Kenny's belt collector phase. Moose basically exposed Kenny, and Moose was selling his ass off. Kenny's moves and "strong-ish style" don't work against bigger opponents. Stuff like needing both Bucks to help him with his finisher, the One Winged Angel, is the reason. Kenny needs a similar sized opponent to make his shit work. And he is on the smallish side. Kenny needs a dude like Vikingo to work with, and there aren't a lot of dudes like that in WWE.

The difference is, they don't book the indyriffic guys in the title scene. Kenny isn't going to go to the WWE to feud with Ricky Starks in NXT. He's gonna want a title push and that isn't going to happen. WWE won't put him in the ring with Drew or Damien.

There's a reason why they head-butted so much with Phil. Punk's attitude towards AEW was always to improve the product, because he's not terribly different from Triple H or Vince or Paul Heyman insofar as he sees it as a business. Kenny and the Bucks see it more as an art form that should be zany and weird at the expense of being polarizing. Luckily, they found a billionaire buddy who can make that sort of show a reality for them. They can gather themselves and all of their friends to enjoy this little piece of wrestling heaven that they've created for themselves. It's highly unlikely to grow or expand. But as far as they are concerned, they really don't care

You pretty much made my point. Can you imagine a match between Jey Uso and Kenny? Jey makes his three moves work and he's over AF, mostly because he works the crowd. Kenny is the opposite of Jey Uso. He gets his moves in and he has a lot of them, but doesn't play to the crowd anywhere near as much as Jey. They really do have contrasting approaches to wrestling and Kenny wouldn't fit in the WWE.

It's not just size, it's style. A good comparison is Giulia in NXT. She learned to wrestle in Japan with smaller opponents, so when she uses 'Arrivederci' in NXT it looks like shit because you realize she's smaller and that move doesn't work on Lash Legend. They already took the belt off her because it wasn't working. Kenny never learned to work like Rey Mysterio. You can't overpower an opponent that is twice your size and Kenny never learned to work to be exploit weakness, target legs and elbows, or play the underdog a match.

Jey knows how to work. His three moves play to a crowd very well. Say what you will about him, but his moves are large enough to impress fans on the third deck (something Kenny has little to no experience with). And Jey sells like a pro (something Kenny can't do). Kenny would never be able to sell punches from Braun Strowman for 6 minutes and make it interesting. It's just not in him. He wants dudes like Strowman and Moose to sell his offense, and that's never going to work with a bigger opponent. No one believes Kenny could hold his own, punch for punch, with dudes that are a foot taller than him and Kenny can't get that through his head.

For what it's worth to you, I don't think either of the Usos are very good, certainly not against each other. They can both work if they have an opponent that can carry them with offense they can sell (someone like Gunther). And their moves play to a live audience way more than the TV audience. That being said, as WWE has proven, Jey is red fucking hot right now because post-Vince WWE is booking him well. To bring it back to Kenny, no one could carry Kenny, because Kenny just "gets his shit it" and wouldn't let anyone carry him, which is what would need to happen against bigger wrestlers.

That right there is why Kenny would never work in the WWE. Kenny literally can't carry everyone. The biggest dudes he's wrestled in the last 4 years are Moose (worst match of his career) and Brian Cage, and Cage is more jacked than tall. The match with Cage in January was shit. Kenny had no offense other than "trigger" (knee to the face which he did three times) and some Ric Flair body chops. He did one power bomb off the top rope that took 30 seconds to set up and Cage had to help him with his finisher. Kenny is sawdusted, and the dude just came back after two years off. He needs to be able to sit back and let younger, better dudes carry him.

And you are ignoring the fact that Cage literally had to push off the top rope, slowly, and assist Kenny in getting him up for Kenny's finisher. And that was after he had to wait for about 20 seconds for Kenny to position himself.

Rey is 10 years older than Omega and unlike Kenny, has been wrestling every week for the last 2 years. And Rey can still do most of the moves he did 30 years ago, he's just doing them cleaner now. Ok. I actually agree with you. Smackdown has been complete shit for about three years. Raw is only slightly better. But I could at least tell you why. You can't. I can, and have, explained why Omega wouldn't work in the WWE. Mostly because his standard moves can't be used on bigger wrestlers. Main roster matches are mostly crowd service (not a bad thing) and about 80% of it is selling cheap offense (punches, slaps, chops, etc.). NXT is unironically leagues better than the main roster and anything AEW can do, but that's beside the point. Every main roster wrestler has about 4 standard moves (some less), and you have maybe 4 minutes of action. Kenny doesn't translate to that. He doesn't sell well. His offense is mostly strong style punches and chops which look like shit against larger opponents, his finisher only works on similar sized dudes, and he's too old to do flippy shit and even when he did do flippy shit, he was massively overrated. And Kenny is overrated. Kenny is a product of Gedo's booking and Gedo was able to hide all of his flaws. His AEW run has been complete shit. Even when he wasn't sawdusted, he only translated to WWE's undercard. At this point, he doesn't translate to WWE at all.

So he literally bought all of the people involved in that moment in time. But he has no concept of why that moment was significant or what made it cool. He thinks putting Okada in a ring will make 'bangers" happen. He can't grasp the storylines that made Okada a face. Or why the natural cringe of the Bucks and Kenny made them the perfect heels for a Japanese audience. And he thinks dangerous = cool and never paid attention to the "Amazing 7-star Meltzer match" that featured mostly a bunch of arm bars and roll-ups and built up to about 4 high spots over about 30 minutes. So, AEW is a bunch of bullshit spotfests matches involving wrestlers that are less than the sum of their NJPW parts so a rich mental toddler can destroy something that was cool.

Kidd/Omega at Dynasty was a typical Kenny Omega spotfest against a vanilla midget small enough for Kenny to work with and the set up and story was all booked by NJPW. Meltzer doesn't talk about work rate anymore because your average NXT flip fest kills this match at work rate and pacing. Kidd got almost no offense in. He was there to job to Omega and honestly, Omega's shit is slow and takes a lot of time to set up. Even simple stuff like back flips off the top rope took a while to set up. Also, Omega tripped setting up 'angel' again (could be a work, but it looked like a legit gaffe) which means he's probably struggling against even smaller opponents. I don't get Omega. He's walking cringe to me. He has his fans and I'm pretty sure his cringe appeals to them. But I don't understand how anyone can watch a Rey Mysterio match and see how fast and clean his work is and then watch Omega. Just simple stuff like running the ropes and jumping outside the ring looks fast and clean when Rey does it but looks broken and slow when Kenny does it. Omega literally couldn't work in WWE right now. Dudes like Rey, Je'Von Evans, Axiom and Frazer, and Wes Lee blow him out of the water and Omega couldn't work with anyone bigger than those guys.
