>>17379708The story mode helped. It was way more bite sized. You could sit down and start one and play all the way through in like a hour or two. Meanwhile WM2000's was a commitment. Whoever you picked you were gonna be going back to that a lot to play all the way through it. Plus it was pretty bare bones in terms of story compared to No Mercy which was more cutscenes than matches at points and those were really cool to see. It also just took what WM2000 had an expanded on it. Moves and animations. Controls like being able to swap back and forth between front and back grapples. Match types. Adding the whole stage and backstage areas. The CAW mode. I personally like WM2000 more just for its roster and the time period it's based on but there's no denying No Mercy is the defining one
