The Rock hasn't been seen since Elimination Chamber. His major role in the Wrestlemania main event storyline came to an abrupt and inexplicable halt. Cena hasn't mentioned him once. Pat McAfee briefly mentioned the Rock in connection to the Elimination Chamber, and the Rock is visible standing behind Cena for a split second during a promotional video that aired since. That's it. Meltzer reports that a WWE source was evasive when asked why the Rock isn't involved in Cody/Cena anymore. The source kept repeating: "I'm not allowed to say, but it's what you would think." When Meltzer pressed him for more details, the source said something to the effect of: "If and when anything goes public, there's gonna be a lot of denials.... I can't say anything." Wade Keller seems to be aware of something, but he's being deliberately vague about his "mixed feelings" about the Rock no longer being involved. The Rock has been uncharacteristically silent on social media. The one thing of late he was promoting on his socials, which he may well have been contractually obligated to post, was the Friday night opener of the United Football League he co-owns. I thought for sure he would make this event, even if he is keeping a low profile, since the UFL itself is a low profile venture of his and all he'd have to do was cut a simple 3-minute promo. Even if his sudden absence from the Wrestlemania main event picture and his near silence on social media were bad signs, I figured his appearance at this UFL opener would be a reason against assuming the worst.
He didn't show.
Reports have it that there was an issue with his private jet and the flight needed to be reverted back to Hawaii where it took off. Maybe this is true, but taken with everything else above, it's plausible that he's been advised to stay out the public eye as much as possible, using cover stories like a malfunctioning private jet when necessary.
