I love a good match as much as anyone (and, truth be told, I like Kenny along with his matches), but there's a lot more to wrestling than matches.
What is the point of having great matches if no one is invested in them? Wrestling is built on investment, not just being good in the ring.
And no, I'm not talking about modern WWE soap opera shit. That mostly sucks too. But at least people cared about Cody vs Roman.
This is a fake sport. Investment is everything.

Mayu Iwatani isn't the greatest wrestler in the world. Kenta Kobashi isn't the greatest wrestler of all time. Cagematch and Meltzer stars only reflect match quality (in a very subjective and controversial way), not actual wrestling skill in terms of the totality of someone's talents. A big part of being a great wrestler is the ability to get crowds invested in you -- Kenny has never shown an ability to do that, even if he is, perhaps, unparalleled in the ring.
I'd argue that the wrestlers OP mentioned are far better at that and, as a result, were more entertaining to a greater number of fans. In terms of this being a fake sport whose value is entirely in its entertainment value, that makes most of them better wrestlers.
