No. They gave him three months because of the company's dire financial situation and pressure from AOL Time Warner. When Russo was brought in as head writer, he was tasked with quickly turning the company around and improving its creative product. The 3-month timeline was simply a trial period

He was there before Starrcade starting around October 1999, you dumbass. That "drop" in their core business you mentioned was the result of pretty much all of early-mid 1999 under Kevin Nash & Bischoff. They brought Russo & Ferrara in to replace Bischoff because they brought the WWF the biggest ratings they ever achieved and because WCW was already too far down the shitter creatively and financially. Russo left WCW for the first time in January 2000 and was replaced by Kevin Sullivan who brought them down even lower than they were before which led to the reboot in April 2000 with Russo & Bischoff at the head of creative.WCW was already doomed by that point. I'm not even a fan of most of Russo's work, this is all in the Nitro book and the Who Killed WCW series from people who were actually there instead of dirtsheet marks and Cornette where you get your narratives from
