Its very hard to salvage a storyline like that when your main bad guy disappears. Imagine its Harry Potter, but Voldemort just disappears after the whole resurrection scene. Literally does not appear in next 2 movies and is never mentioned again. How do you work around that?

They tried to retcon in Cena as Rock's replacement, but it doesn't work, because Cena turning heel rested on the Rock's involvement. So what they do is have Cena's mental development time travel back to 2013, and it comes off like Cena has dementia. Its just terrible, and is exclusively Rock's fault.

HHH's booking has been terrible for a while now, because he's just booking spots (like he did on NXT Skulls-- which is why none of those guys amounted to much and he didn't actually move in new talent). Rock's plan is fucking stupid as well though, because the company spent three years investing into face Cody because they haven't built a face in forever, and Rock wants him to turn so he can be a face, all because fans rejected his Roman match.
