Before AEW the only wrestlers that used NJPW as a stepping stone were boomers that just want one last big contract or the shitty ones. Everyone else stayed out of the prestige and cause they actually like the in ring aspect, not the entertainment bullshit.
AEW is something between WWE and NJPW so the people that just want the money go to either of them and the people that like the in-ring aspect pick AEW due to having both money and based matches.
It kinda feels like AEW giving more wrestlers away to NJPW in the past year or so so hopefully that helps. Having guys like Takeshita on a monthly basis would be based
