Gigi was to fit a niche and she didn't look half as good out on camera as she does in OP so people didn't take to her as a redhead, an "anime" e-girl, or a punky goth. She's gone and they'll do it to everyone they can't sell or doesn't already have it in good with the boss.
Gunther can old school wrestle and has a gimmick which ever lessened in RAW from NXT still works enough for him to build up hate as a good heel. His merch looks like as and sells like ass, but he's in good with HHH so he survives to a new 5 year contract with a bus and a vacation. Without that HHH connection I doubt he would still be here when his job was to put Jey Uso over. Even Jimmy, a far better wrestler, had to play in the storyline to put over his less talented brother in the ring because management only care about entrance interaction and merch sales at this point unless you have an in with the boss.
