Your average wrestling fan here in the US really doesn't want to see matches that are over 12 minutes unless it's a PPV match. They want to see women's wrestling even less. This means matches are structured in such a way that they get in, get their stuff in, then get out.
It doesn't work with joshi. Joshi is about storytelling and character work and emotional investments in the wrestlers themselves. You can't form an emotional investment in someone working rushed matches for maybe 8 minutes every couple of weeks, especially when they don't speak English and aren't cutting promos.
