Smackdown vs RAW was not a serious console war, it was just funposting. WWE vs the indie circuit was a semi-serious console war at most: the indie fans knew that their shows would never compete with WWE ratings-wise so they didn't get too invested into it, and the WWE fans didn't see the indie promotions as much of a threat so they also didn't become completely deranged over it.
WWE vs AEW has been a completely different beast. Because of the early success that AEW experienced, it created an atmosphere where indie fags felt emboldened and WWE fags felt threatened, and the result was multiple years of the internet's most unemployed autists waging all out war upon each other and destroying the comfy vibe of this community. It feels different now because of the freaks who went all in on a wrestling console war, not because of anything else.
