When Punk had his feud with Hangman, Hangman cut a promo that offended Punk so much that he was still seething about it months later. You can't work with a guy like that. I guarantee you if they tried to do an angle together Punk would have sabotaged it, or claimed they were trying to shoot on him, or would otherwise act extremely unreasonable, just like he did even when he wasn't working an angle with them.

Something about the AEW environment really made Punk paranoid and insecure as fuck. I think the problem was the fact he didn't really want to be there to begin with and was only there because he needed the money, and he saw the environment backstage and probably felt left out and under-appreciated and it resulted in him lashing out. It wasn't a good place for him. I do think he has shoot mental issues and AEW probably didn't manage them well enough.

Danielson on the other hand simply went to AEW with the goal of wrestling the way he wanted with whoever he wanted and became a highly respected figure in the locker room.
