I think you make a very decent point but I'd argue that he's a company man built on a gimmick and probably wouldn't make it elsewhere, not to the same degree. They literally had to force his push down fans' throats and he didn't really get over until he turned heel. And it worked because of the previous forced push.
They're not worried about him leaving, which is why he can be pushed.
But then look at someone like Drew. Big, charismatic, can go in the ring, has everything that would have made it back in the old days.
There's a reason he's still where he's been instead of top champ and it has nothing to do with not being able to grab that brass ring.
