brilliant name. we were already calling him JC anyway and Mateo is a dimes name. much better than Cobb which only reminds people of Cobb County, Georgia and the Big Boss Man.

I didn't understand why they gave him a Spanish name until I learned he's half-Filipino on his mom's side but he grew up in Guam and Hawaii. So with the other Island boys having Island names, his dad's English last name is replaced with a Spanish one. For all I know, that's his mom's maiden name.
