>>17712240>>17712320>>17712263You know, there's something I don't get.
Unless I've been learning my info wrong, most revenue from any entertainment business with an established brand comes from merchandise. Why? Because you can buy it at any time, never goes out of fashion, and is always "in demand" to a degree depending on what the source is and what the merch in particular is focused on. Statistics have proven this. Pokemon's the highest rated video game IP of all time thanks to merch, not just the games. Evangelion is still a mega draw in Japan thanks to its overcommercialization of merch, not just the show itself, despite how ironic the merch itself is...
So IF merch really IS the way businesses make money, why the fuck would they price tickets so damn high? They have merch stands at the shows don't they? I went to a HOUSE show last year, and even that explicitly had a room or table, can't remember which. Pretty sure it sold out too, despite the arena not being sold out. So I don't understand. Am I missing something? Is this WWE's way of admitting merch sales aren't great at shows? Is it blind greed? Make it make sense. Because in theory, you'd make TICKET prices lower, so you can goad the customer into buying merchandise. It's loss-leading. And since WWE rarely comes to YOUR city, which they may even have some exclusive merch, a minor variant or whatever of some kind, you also have fear of missing out. It's a double whammy. So what the fuck is the deal!?
