The Punk stuff did irreversible damage to them as a brand. No matter how good of a story they put out, no matter how good of a match, no matter if they got the network deal, no matter who they sign. People made their mind up after that and it's gonna take WWE fucking up in a massive way to get fans to explore them as an option again
