Wrestling is to sanitized/corporatized now. Every storyline/angle is safe and family friendly. Nobody wants to watch that boring slop because its predictable and stale.

People want to watch crazy shit and be surprised. This is why the "Attitude Era" is so revered by fans even though it only lasted like 4-5 years it felt like it lasted decades.

Right now WWE is starting to dip below 1 million and are even cancelling some shows. I bet if they let R-Truth go heel and go out in aa KKK outfit calling people "Mayo Monkeys" and "Crackers" their viewership would quadruple instantly. Or, if they brought back the Diva's division with actual hot chicks doing sexy dances or even if someone just went out and interrupted on of Seth Rollin's promos and made fun of him for dressing like a limp dick faggot their viewers/ratings would surge. But nope we can't have any of that it might actually be fun to watch and profitable.

Overall wrestling viewership is in the decline because the "Fun Police" are in charge of production and creative. Anything that deviates from your standard corporate/cookie cutter family friendly slop will not be tolerated.
