Brock could do both, and Vince probably couldn't afford to let him walk. Hardcore Holly was a vet but not one that Vince would've stayed loyal to over Brock.

Steve Blackman was seriously injured for most of the 90s and was in the WWF system longer than people realize. He probably knew he could fall back on something else, but WWF was his best option at the moment, despite being lower on the card. If Bradshaw was at his currently level of clout it probably wouldn't have worked out.

Edge probably could do neither (physically defend himself, OR out-clout Bradshaw) due to his place on the card at the time.

Pro wrestlers got into backstage fights all the damn time back in the 80s and 90s. Bret Hart literally punched Vince McMahon in the face. For as much of an ass whopping that Bradshaw would have received, he still lived by the bro code: take your lumps like a man and don't run to the authorities like a bitch. Had Bradshaw tried to have Blackman arrested because he beat him in a fight, then Bradshaw would have lost all respect from the boys and likely would have lost his job not long afterward.

Modern wrestlers may be pussies that can't handle confrontation, but the old school guys certainly weren't.

The blackman story is based. So JBL was ribbing him talking shit and blackman took it but couldn't figure out if it was serious or not. So he worked himself into a shoot and confronted JBL at baggage claim at the airport before a show and hit him with a combo and stuns JBL and when blackman pulled back to spinning kick him in the head his foot got caught in the handle of his bag which stopped him so the wrestlers could break it up. Big show also nearly got heemed by blackman too. They were in the locker room and blackman was lay on the floor on his back stretching his back out and big show stood over him talking shit and blackman from the laying position hooked big show in a leg lock and pulled him down and got on top of big show then dragged off by the boys.

Every wrestler I've seen in interviews always says blackman was legit as fuck

For whatever reason they pissed off shamrock so he went to their hotel room to beat the shit out of them and when he walked into the room one of them was on the bed and the other came from behind and blasted him from behind with the hotel room knocking him out. This was back when hotel and business phones had big steel plates on the base. So once he went down they started kicking him in the head and tried throwing him out of the hotel window. So shamrock got put in intensive care and after he came back he confronted knobbs at the airport and he was passing himself crying saying don't beat me up so shamrock let it go.

They're pieces of shit they said they did it because they were so scared of him

Halme was in his nation's military and he trained in boxing and MMA. He later went on to have several fights both in boxing and MMA. It's objectively false to claim he's not a legit fighter. Although the Steiners were excellent freestyle wrestlers and could likely have stretched Halme, that doesn't mean he wouldn't have been one of the toughest guys in the locker room back then.
