Have you ever seen one wrestling company thrive off ppvs in the way AEW has? Wcw was shit weekly and on ppvs after 1999. TNA during 2013 which saw their decline. AEW knocks it out of the park

PPVs/PLEs are the bread and butter of the business.
Televised shows have always just been an advertising platform to get people interested in the bigger shows. Companies want to make money off the televised shows, obviously, but the reason important matches rarely happen is you want people paying a premium to see them.
The big exception to this was WCW. It was owned by a television network so people tuning in week-to-week mattered. It was why it was uniquely driven to outperform WWF on a weekly basis and forced WWF to operate in the same way in order to survive.
